The Journey School’s First Annual Report

Director’s Perspective

I am pleased to present to you The Journey School’s first Annual Report.  This report covers the activities and achievements from August 2019 through June 2020.

The Journey School opened its doors for the first time on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 and welcomed students in grades kindergarten – 6th. Our theme for the school year was “Choose Your Journey.”

Every morning the students gathered for breakfast in the cafeteria/gym. Breakfast and lunch times were special because those were the times each day that all students were together at the same time and in the same place.

Our school community grew together by hosting monthly events and celebrations such as:

  • The Back to School Picnic which included school supplies and a backpack giveaway
  •  Grandparents’ and Special Relatives’ Day
  • The Journey School Marathon
  • International Dinner
  • Community Dinners

The students attended the following field trips:

  • Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard
  • Minnesota’s Children’s Museum
  • Feed My Starving Children
  • Plays and musicals
  • River Rendezvous

It was amazing to see our students grow daily in and out of the classroom.  The year was filled with academic success. Although we did not have our scheduled Science and Fine Arts because of COVID-19, the students completed and were judged on their projects for the fair. Due to COVID-19, the school year ended with distance learning for all.
